Israel and Saudi Arabia are cooperating to prepare for the construction of a railway system which would link Riyadh to Haifa, Kurdish journalist in Israel Mahdi Majeed revealed on Sunday.

Writing on Twitter, Majeed posted a short video showing the Israeli Intelligence and Transportation Minister Yisrael Katz exposing a map and commenting on the planned railway.

“During a meeting with Israel Katz, the Israeli Minister of Intelligence and Communications, while he was explaining the project of the railway that connects Saudi Arabia with the Israeli port of Haifa.. Israel and Saudi are dealing with the project secretly which will be revealed after the completion of the Deal of the Century in 2019,” Majeed wrote.

Israeli media reported Katz speaking about the plan in April last year. Katz was hopeful that the railway, which would pass through Jordan, would contribute to the Jordanian economy, noting that it would connect all the Gulf States with the Mediterranean.

It was reported that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu presented the plan to the US Middle East Envoy Jason Greenblatt during one of his visits to the region.
