There is no alternative to President Mahmoud Abbas in order to progress the Palestinian-Israeli peace process, senior Fatah leader Yahya Rabah said yesterday.

“President Abbas’ idea of peace revolves around the concept of consensus for the sake of the state. Therefore, President Donald Trump’s team cannot achieve any kind of success without President Abbas,” Rabah told Quds Net.

“There is no other possible person to talk to other than Abbas.”

“President Abbas has his own way to conduct the peace process, which is different from the way Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu wants it and that [US] President Trump adopted.”

“President Abbas cannot cooperate in the negotiations on the basis of eliminating the issue of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and the problem of refugees after Trump’s decision to cut aid to UNRWA… Therefore, the deal was rejected by the world, and especially the most important side, President Abbas.”
