Palestinian university gives Qatar Emir honorary PhD

Al-Aqsa University gave the Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim Ben Hamad Al Thani an honorary doctorate on Saturday in appreciation of his support for the Palestinian people, the Anadolu Agency reported.

University President Kamal Al-Sharafi handed the PhD certificate to Qatari Ambassador Mohammed Al Emadi, the head of the Qatari Committee for the Reconstruction of Gaza, who visited the university to deliver donations.

For his part, Al Emadi said that Qatar had been and would remain a pioneering supporter of Gaza and its people, noting that his committee had carried out massive vital and service projects.

The Qatari Committee said that it had offered donations for the Gaza Strip worth 50 million Qatari Riyals ($13.7 million).
