An Algerian parliamentarian has joined international solidarity activists aboard the Freedom Flotilla ship named Al-Awda calling on Arab and international parliaments to support and protect the ships which aim to break the siege on Gaza.
Member of Parliament Nabi Habri, of the Algerian Movement for the Society of Peace (MPI) arrived in the Italian island of Sardinia where the boat is currently docked.
He said in a press statement that his participation in the peace convoy represents the will of the Algerian people who yearn to see Palestine free from the hateful Zionist occupation and who would be honoured to contribute to it.
He called on Arab and international governments to make serious political efforts to stop the occupation's crimes against Gaza's two million strong population.
Al-Awda arrived in the Sardinia port of Cagliari, Italy, carrying 15 activists from different countries.
A large number of supporters were on shore to greet the ship as she docked. The Freedom boat is expected to arrive in the port this evening.
Al-Awda will head to the French island of Corsica in the Mediterranean Sea on Thursday.
