With this victory, Souad Abdel Rahim becomes the first woman in the history of Tunisia to become the Mayor of Tunis.

Ennahda nominated her for the post of Mayor of Tunis in the 2018 Tunisian municipal elections.

The Nahdha list topped the results of May 27 municipal elections by 27.5%, while the Nidaa Tounés party came second with 22.5%.

The municipal elections were conducted under challenging economic and social conditions, and voters hope that elected municipal councils will solve many problems related to hygiene, the environment, and the service sector.
