The evacuation of the White Helmets civil defence teams from Syria reveals the support these "terrorists" have been receiving from neighbouring countries, the Syrian foreign ministry said yesterday.
It had been reported that 422 White Helmets members, who helped rescue survivors following attacked by the Syrian regime, were evacuated to Jordan ahead of being resettled in Britain, Germany or Canada.
"The criminal operation that Israel and its tools conducted in the area reveals the true nature of the so-called White Helmets," said a source at the foreign ministry, cited by the Syrian state news agency SANA.
The sources claimed that the White Helmets is a front for "terrorists" and said Damascus had warned the world of its "dangers".
"Words of condemnation are not enough to express the indignation that every Syrian feels towards these despicable conspiracies and the limitless aid from Western countries, Israel and Jordan to the White Helmets," the source said.
Spokesman of the Jordanian Foreign Ministry Mohammed Al-Kayid said that his country allowed the UN to organise the passage of these activists after it had received a written pledge to resettle them.
In total there were 827 activists, Al-Kayid said, but many preferred to remain in the country. The others, he explained, left Syria because they felt their lives were in danger.
