Russia delegation arrives in Lebanon to discuss Syria refugees file

The Russian Embassy in Lebanon yesterday announced that its Special Envoy to Syria, Alexander Lavrentiev, and Deputy Foreign Minister, Sergey Vershinin, will visit Beirut to discuss the Syrian refugees’ return to their homeland.

A source at the Russian embassy told TASS news agency that Lavrentiev and Vershinin will meet Lebanese President, Michel Aoun, and Prime Minister, Saad Hariri, today to discuss a Russian initiative to mobilise international efforts for the return of Syrian refugees.

On Tuesday Hariri received the Russian chargé d’affaires, Vyacheslav Maksudov, to discuss the Russian proposal for the return of displaced Syrians.
