Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said yesterday that Moscow is seeking to reach an understanding with Western countries on common plans to deal with the Syrian refugee problem.

Lavrov explained that he and the Chief of the Russian General Staff, Valery Gerasimov, discussed the issue with their Western colleagues during a visit to Paris.

“We want to agree on common principles of work to solve this problem,” he said, adding that the Syrian refugee issue is extremely important for both European and Middle Eastern countries. Lavrov and Gerasimov discussed the issue during their visits to Israel, Germany and France last week.
