Iranian President Hassan Rouhani is expected to meet with the American President Donald Trump to discuss the latter’s withdrawal from the nuclear deal and the threat of placing new sanctions on Tehran, an Israeli news website has revealed.

According to Arabi21, Israeli news site Debka revealed the news about the potential meeting, noting that it is being arranged by Oman.

The Israeli website said that Rouhani had rejected an invitation to meet with Trump, but Oman is still working on preparing for such a meeting.

Secret discussions, the site said, mediated by Oman, were launched have between the two countries in June.
Speaking to Arabi21, political analyst Nabeel Al-Atoum said Oman had succeeded to lead such efforts because it adopted “positive neutralism” regarding its relations with the region, noting that it had made some efforts to resolve the Gulf siege of Qatar.

In 2011, Oman successfully mediated the release of three Americans who had been captured in Iran.
