Israeli occupation army said on Sunday that it had launched a one-week-military-exercise in the occupied Syrian Golan Heights, the Anadolu Agency reported.

In a statement, the Israeli army said: “Today, a military exercise started in the Golan Heights and Galilee and it will last for one week. It is part of the annual training plan for 2018 that aims to maintain readiness of our forces.”

The exercise is slated to continue throughout the week, with the sound of explosions and some movement of security forces throughout the region expected during this period.

Last Thursday, the Israeli occupation army announced that it had ended a military exercise that simulates a war in the northern front, which includes Syria and Lebanon.

Israel has been on high alert along its northern border with Syria as a result of Iran’s backing of Syrian regime President Bashar Al-Assad and the presence of Iranian troops and allies in the country.
