Two Palestinians were killed and 170 people were injured as a result of Israeli occupation forces’ repression of demonstrators in the Gaza Strip yesterday.

Ministry of health spokesperson Ashraf Al-Qudra said Israeli snipers shot dead volunteer medic Abdallah Al-Qatati as large crowds of Palestinians protested as part of the “Great March of Return”. Some 170 unarmed Palestinians were injured, 90 of whom were treated in field hospitals, while 80 weer transported to hospital. Twenty-five were hit with live bullets including five medics and journalists.

Fifty-five-year-old Ali Al-Alool was also killed by sniper fire early yesterday morning. Tens of thousands of Palestinians from all over the Gaza Strip participated in Friday’s “Freedom and Life” events on the 20th Friday since the protests were launch.

Nearly 160 Palestinians have been killed by Israel since the protests began on 30 March.

Israel has come under widespread international condemnation for its use of excessive force and live ammunition against unarmed protesters taking part in the protests.
