Member of PLO’s Central Council Omar Al-Ghoul said yesterday that the PLO will make “shocking” decisions if US President Donald Trump did not change his policies regarding Palestine, stressing that the Palestinian leadership would not accept the deal of the century, Quds Net News reported.

“If they [Americans] wanted to open the door again,” he said, “they are welcome, but on the basis of withdrawing the deal of the century, changing the Middle East team and letting the peace process run by at least the permanent UN Security Council members”.

He added: “The leadership reply was clear – President Mahmoud Abbas will not meet with Trump if he does not withdraw all positions he announced, mainly the deal of the century, in addition to changing his team.”

Mass media reported that Trump requested to meet with Abbas after the UN General Assembly meeting on 20 September.

Al-Ghoul wondered what will be left for the Palestinians if Jerusalem and refugees were taken off the table and the PLO representative office in Washington was blacklisted.

He noted that Abbas’ speech at the UN General Assembly would be comprehensive and would not include any “surprises,” but would be “important”.

The PLO official said: “After the meeting of the UN General Assembly, there will be shocking decisions regarding the whole international community, America and the occupation state of Israel.”
