Israel has launched air strikes on Syria in response to requests from the US, the First Deputy Chairman of Russia’s State Duma Defence Committee, Alexander Sherin, has said.

“Israel acts on orders from the United States. Washington will never fight us, it will do it using third parties in Syria. It will use Israel or Daesh,” Sherin said.

“The Israeli army is built with US funds. The Americans provide tens of billions of dollars to arm, equip and train the Israeli army,” he added.

Syria’s SANA news agency reported earlier that the Syrian defence systems yesterday responded to Israeli raids in the province of Hama.
