Arab foreign ministers yesterday criticised the American position regarding UN agency for Palestine refugees (UNRWA) and stressed their support for it, Quds Press reported.

The foreign ministers of the Arab League concluded a two-day meeting in the Egyptian capital Cairo by warning that undermining the power and role of UNRWA would lead the situation in the Middle East to deteriorate.

In the statement, the Arab foreign ministers said maintaining UNRWA is a means of “respecting the rights of the Palestinians refugees”, as well as international recognition of them.

During the meeting, the Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Sabah Al Khalid Al Sabah called for a special committee to be set up to discuss funding UNRWA. He also renewed his country’s pledges to the international agency.

Meanwhile, the Saudi Foreign Minister Adel Al-Jubeir said at the concluding meeting of the Arab League that the Arabs would never disown UNRWA.
