Turkey’s Erdogan to Saudi King Salman: Islamic world needs stability

Turkish President, Recep Tayyip Erdogan warned the Saudi King, Salman bin Abdul Aziz of the “dangerous” challenges in the Muslim world, on Sunday.

Erdogan sent the cable to congratulate the Saudi king on the Kingdom National Day which falls on September 23.

“The Islamic world is currently facing serious challenges and needs peace and stability more than ever,” he said, stressing “on the solidarity of friendly countries with common visions”.

The Arab region is enduring various conflicts that have increased in recent years, especially in Yemen, Libya and Syria, as well as strained relations between countries competing for influence in the Middle East and the Islamic world.

In Yemen, Saudi Arabia has been leading an alliance of Arabic countries against Houthi militia for three years amid criticism from international and human rights organisations.
