Abbas’ speech at UNGA might be ‘last chance for peace’

Palestinian Authority (PA) President Mahmoud Abbas’ speech at the UN General Assembly tomorrow might be the “last chance for peace”, Quds Press reported his spokesperson saying yesterday.

In a statement, Nabil Abu-Rudeineh said: “Abbas to represent a crossroad and pave the way for a new stage to encounter the dangerous challenges that face out people.”

He added: “Abbas’ speech is to include a comprehensive national vision that will have a deep impact on the ongoing incidents here [in Palestine], in the region and the world.”

“Without Jerusalem and the holy sites there will be no just and sustainable peace in the region,” he said.

Without Jerusalem, there will be no solution and the region will remain unstable and wars will continue forever.

Abbas is scheduled to deliver a speech at the UNGA today where he is expected to speak about the stalled peace process, the “deal of the century” and the UNRWA funding crisis.
