The Kuwaiti Ministry of Interior said it has referred a group of Twitter users to the Public Prosecution for insulting Saudi Arabia on social media.
The tweets were described as “offensive” after they were published during Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman’s recent visit to Kuwait.
Security sources said the General Department of Criminal Investigation at the interior ministry has summoned and arrested the social media users including Osama Al-Khashram and Sami Al-Faraj.
The Saudi Crown Prince visited Kuwait for two hours to attend a dinner hosted by the Emir of Kuwait, Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah. The short visit has led to speculations of continuing tension between Kuwait and Saudi Arabia, this was denied by the Kuwaiti foreign ministry.
