Haifa has highest rate of cancer in Israel

The city of Haifa has the highest rate of cancer in Israel, Israeli Ministry of Health and Israel Cancer Association announced in a report yesterday.

According to the report, patients in Haifa suffer from lung, breast, prostate and intestine cancer nine to 14 per cent more than people around Israel.

Cancer is the leading cause of death in Israel since 1999, account for 25 per cent of fatalities.

Rates of cancer in Tel Aviv, the report said, are higher than the average rate in Israel by three to six per cent, while it is lower in Jerusalem and Acre, but it is the lowest in Marj Ibn Amer by five to 16 per cent.
