Israel seals East Jerusalem neighbourhood

Israeli forces sealed off the entrance to the Palestinian neighborhood of Jabal al-Mukabbir, in occupied East Jerusalem, with cement blocks [Maannews]

Israeli occupation forces yesterday sealed off the entrance to the Palestinian neighbourhood of Jabal Al-Mukaber, in occupied East Jerusalem, with cement blocks.

Eyewitnesses said that Israeli forces stationed themselves at the main entrance to Jabal Al-Mukaber, while bulldozers sealed off the neighbourhood with cement blocks, without any prior notice to residents.

Jabal Al-Mukaber residents denounced the closure as it prevented them from moving freely and caused traffic in the area.

No reason was given for the closure.

Occupation forces regularly block the entrances to Palestinian towns given residents no notice of their intent. Activists believe this is another step towards making life in the occupied territories difficult and an effort to force Palestinian to abandon their homes and move away.
