217,000 traffic violations in 3 months in Jordan capital

There have been more than 217,000 traffic violations caught on monitoring cameras in the Jordanian capital Amman in the first quarter of this year.

The number of contraventions means revenues are expected to rise to 46 million dinars ($64.8 million).

Al-Ghad newspaper reported today that the Greater Amman Municipality’s 42 camera filmed the 217,000 violations.

Some 89,181 contraventions were recorded in August making it the month with the highest number of breaches. July recorded the lowest number of traffic violations with only 54,000.

According to the municipality, the number of accidents which caused death or serious injury in 2017 reduce by 20 per cent compared to the previous year.
