Egypt agriculture exports rise to 4.4m tons

Egypt’s Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, Ezzeldin Abu-State, has said that Egyptian agricultural exports reached 4.4 million tons this year, compared to 4 million tons at the same time last year, Egyptian media reported on Friday.

Since the start of this year, Abu-State said that Egypt has exported 1.6 million tons of citrus fruit, 759,117 tons of potatoes, 284,843 tons of onions, 100,882 tons of grapes, 67,971 tons of pomegranates, 20,745 tons of mangoes, 15,423 tons of beans, 10,822 tons of strawberries, 13,962 tons of garlic and 5,292 tons of cucumber.

The minister hailed the efforts of the agricultural sector and the different departments in his ministry which have been “maintaining Egypt’s reputation”. He also referred to the strict measures used by the ministry to guarantee the quality of agricultural exports, stressing that they meet international standards.

In addition, he said that his ministry is working to open new markets for Egyptian agricultural exports, which contribute to boosting the national economy and bringing money to the country.
