Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Oman congratulate Turkey on Republic Day

Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Oman on Sunday congratulated Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on the 95th anniversary of Turkish Republic Day.

Saudi King Salman Bin Abdulaziz and his son Crown Prince Mohammad Bin Salman sent two telegrams of congratulations to Erdogan and the Turkish people, wishing them “more progress and a prosperous future,” Anadolu reported.

Bahraini King Hamad Bin Issa, his Crown Prince Salman Bin Hamad and Prime Minister Prince Khalifa Bin Salman also sent messages of congratulations to Erdogan. All the Bahraini leaders expressed their “loyal” congratulations on this “national” day Anadolu reported, citing a Bahraini news agency. The Bahraini King also wished “good health” to Erdogan and the Turkish people, as well as “more superiority and progress”.

Sultan Qaboos Bin Said of Oman also congratulated Erdogan and the Turkish people on this national occasion and hoped “more progress and prosperity” for Turkey and its people.

Turkey today marks the 95th anniversary of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk’s declaration of the Turkish Republic, ending the centuries-old caliphate during which Turkey ruled most Muslim countries around the world.

Several other international leaders, including Russian President Vladimir Putin and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, also congratulated Erdogan on this occasion.

To mark the occasion, Erdogan is also to inaugurate Istanbul Airport, one of the largest airports in the world. Over 50 foreign dignitaries from at least 18 countries, including the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, Macedonia, Moldova, Pakistan, Serbia, Sudan, Bosnia, Bulgaria, Democratic Republic of Congo, Slovenia, Georgia, Iran, Moldova’s Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia and the UK will attend the ceremony.
