Egypt revealed yesterday that studies have now uncovered how ancient Egyptians moved the huge stones they used to build the pyramids in Giza.

The Ministry of Antiquities said a central slope, surrounded by two stairways, with pillars containing holes, was used to lift the blocks through rough, steep hills.

The statement pointed out that a British-French group of archaeologists reached this discovery through “studies and researches on archaeological inscriptions discovered in the site of Egyptian marble quarries since 2012.”

The discovery is of “great importance”, the ministry said.

The mission of the French Institute of Eastern Archeology and the University of Liverpool of England, led by Yannis Gordon and Roland Enmarsh, carried out studies and research into the inscriptions on the site of the Egyptian quarries Al-Marmar.
