Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said yesterday the coming months would be difficult for Iranians as they might face additional economic difficulties.
During a meeting of the ministerial council, Rouhani said: “The situation has been difficult during the latest months and it might be difficult in the coming months, too,” referring to the US sanctions which are scheduled to take effect next week.
Washington, he added, “is seeking to aroused Iranians’ anger against their government.”
“In fact, people are already angry, but they are angry with the UN and its crimes, not with their government and their ruling regime.”
A new wave of US sanctions are to be imposed on Iran on 4 November targeting the oil and gas industries. Iran has been working to counter the effects of the sanctions agreeing with Turkey and Azerbaijan that local currencies would be used in trade rather than the use of the US dollar.
