A Fatah delegation, which arrived in Cairo on Sunday to discuss the reconciliation with Hamas, returned to the West Bank after meeting the Egyptian officials in charge of the Palestinian issue, the Anadolu Agency reported yesterday.

“The delegation met the Egyptian officials and discussed with them the views of Hamas and it is returning to Ramallah,” Fatah spokesman in Gaza Atef Abu Saif told the Anadolu Agency.

Abu Saif did not reveal the essence of the discussions, but said that the Palestinian Authority government led by the Fatah official Rami Hamdallah “must lead the Gaza Strip and the West Bank until elections are held”.

Last week, a delegation of senior Hamas met with Egyptian officials in Cairo and discussed the issue of the internal reconciliation.
