IOM evacuates 101 Ethiopian migrants from Yemen’s Sanaa airport

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) announced on Monday that it has evacuated 102 Ethiopian migrants in Yemen through Sanaa International Airport.

“The organization hired a plane that carried the Ethiopian immigrants from Sanaa airport and they will arrive directly at Addis Ababa airport” Saba al-Mualami, Yemen’s IOM communications officer told Anadolu news agency by telephone.

“This is the first voluntary evacuation of Ethiopian migrants from Yemen through Sanaa airport since 2015,” he said.

He noted that an aeroplane will carry another 402 Ethiopian migrants on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday of this week to their country.

The organization has voluntarily evacuated thousands of Ethiopian and Somali refugees in Yemen since the war began in 2015, via the ports of Hodeidah, west and Aden, south.
