Yemeni Foreign Minister Khaled Al-Yamani said yesterday that the Houthis want war and reject peace, the Saba news agency reported.

According to the agency, Al-Yamani made the remarks during a meeting with US Ambassador to Yemen Matthew Toler held in the Saudi capital Riyadh.

During the meeting the pair discussed UN efforts to hold a new round of consultations next month with Al-Yamani saying the Yemeni government “is dealing positively with the UN envoy’s invitation in an effort to end the human suffering of the Yemeni people”.

He added that the government’s efforts are contrary to the Houthi’s “adherence to war and rejection of peace”.

The Yemeni minister stressed on the need for the international community to exert more pressure on the Houthis to comply with peace and to respond to its demands.
