Arab League: Embassy transfers from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem ‘illegal’

Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit has called on countries around the world not to consider moving their embassies from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, saying this would be “illegal”.

“These steps contribute to complicating the situation and we will not stand silent in front of it,” Aboul Gheit said.

“We must always remember the Palestinian people’s rights and remind everyone that the world does not forget the Palestinian people’s suffering,” he said.

The Arab official said the Palestinian cause is going through unprecedented times after the United States removed the issue of Jerusalem and refugees from the negotiations, stressing that these actions will not affect or change the Palestinians’ fixed rights.

He went on to describe the silence following Israel’s actions as a “disgrace to humanity”.
