Germany’s Merkel will not meet Saudi crown prince in Argentina

German Chancellor Angela Merkel will not meet Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman this weekend at the G20 summit, a government official said.

Speaking to Al-Jazeera the official said Merkel will discuss the case of murdered Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi with its allies.

The official called on all parties involved in the Khashoggi case, including Saudi Arabia, to reveal the circumstances surrounding his death.

Germany has shown a firm stance against Saudi Arabia Khashoggi was reported missing after entering the Saudi consulate in Istanbul, Turkey, on 2 October 2018. It has since ceased arms sales to Saudi Arabia and has been encouraging other EU states to do the same.
