On Thursday, dozens of Palestinians called on the international community to translate its solidarity with the Palestinian people into concrete actions.

This came during a protest organised by Palestinian forces and factions in front of the United Nations office in Ramallah on the occasion of the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, on 29 November.

The participants raised banners which called for “punishing Israel for its crimes” and translating international solidarity into concrete decisions on the ground.

Mustafa Barghouthi, head of the Palestinian National Initiative party, said that “the world is required to implement its decisions on the ground to end the Israeli occupation, realise the right of return and establish an independent Palestinian state.”

In an exclusive statement to Anadolu Agency, Barghouthi praised the international solidarity campaign with the Palestinian people and asserted: “We are proud of international solidarity campaigns. Today, there are protests in Russia, the United States, Europe, Turkey and others.”

The United Nations celebrates the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People on 29 November, the date the organisation adopted it (1977).
