Former Bahraini football player Hakim Al-Oraibi appealed on Thursday to the Australian government not to deport him because he would face “dangerous circumstances”.

Al-Oraibi expressed his worries after he was detained in Thailand’s Bangkok Airport as he was travelling from Australia, where he lives after he applied for political asylum, Al Jazeera reported.

In a phone call with AFP, Al-Oraibi said that he was “tense” and does not want to return back to Bahrain. “The situation will be dangerous for me there,” he added.

On Thursday, Al-Oraibi told Al Jazeera that he had been detained for two days in the airport and had no food. He called on anyone to help him return to Australia.
