The Algerian-Tunisian border crossing, located in the Tunisian border town of Bouchebka, was re-opened yesterday following unrest and protests by the town's residents.
Tunisian residents protested and threw stones at the Algerian border, forcing a halt of the movement of goods trucks across the border, in reaction to the Algerian police's arrest of two Tunisian nationals that had attempted to enter Algeria without proper documents.
The protests resulted in the closure of the border on Sunday night.
In August, Algerian security officers launched a military offensive following suspicions of the infiltration of a terrorist group into the country. They searched for weapons stores, drug traffickers and terrorist cells in the area.
