UAE-backed pro-government Yemen forces release Turkey aid delegation

Yemeni government forces close to the UAE yesterday released a Turkish aid delegation after confiscating their passports and holding them for two days inside a hotel in the southern city of Aden.

A member of the delegation told the Anadolu Agency that the Yemeni forces questioned the delegation for nearly three hours on Saturday inside a police station before releasing them at night and returning their passports, explaining that they will receive their car and the rest of their belongings today.

The member thanked the Turkish Embassy in Sanaa for closely following up with the incident, adding that the aid delegation members will continue their relief activities in Yemen.

The delegation entered Yemen on 15 December, coming from Oman. They entered Aden on 20 December.

Yemeni government forces stopped the delegation several kilometers before it arrived in Aden city and transferred them to a military headquarters in without explaining the reason for their detention.

The source explained that the delegation was not subjected to any form of ill-treatment during their detention.
