The leader of the Turkish opposition Nationalist Movement Party Devlet Bahceli called for the killers of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi to be extradited to Ankara in order to be prosecuted there.

Speaking to reporters in the Turkish capital on Wednesday, Bahceli said: “The perpetrators should be brought to Turkey and tried here.”

The Turkish government has to uncover the most accurate details of the crime, he added.

The murder of Khashoggi, who was assassinated inside the Saudi consulate in Istanbul in October, provoked international outrage and demands to reveal the whereabouts of body.

Riyadh admitted that Khashoggi was murdered in a “premeditated” attack and his body dismembered inside the consulate after he refused to return to the kingdom.

On 5 December, the Turkish judiciary issued an arrest warrants against former deputy head of Saudi intelligence, Ahmad Asiri, and former adviser to Saudi Crown Prince, Saud Al-Qahtani, for their involvement in Khashoggi’s murder.
