Palestinian Authority Jerusalem Governor Adnan Ghaith yesterday called on the UN to put pressure on Israel to reveal the tunnels beneath Al-Aqsa Mosque, Quds Press reported.

In a statement, Ghaith stressed that the Israeli tunnels being dug beneath Al-Aqsa Mosque and the  Silwan neighbourhood “are dangerous”.

He said that Israel had been carrying out major historical changes in the city and “the UN has to carry out its job towards the occupied city based on the UN Security Council’s resolutions.”

The Wadi Al-Hilweh Information Centre has previously warned of the continuous Israeli excavation works from under the foundations of Al-Aqsa Mosque and Silwan.

The centre said that more than 70 Palestinian homes had been damaged by the excavation works, noting that the Israeli occupation is digging a network of tunnels.
