New clashes broke out on Sunday between the Yemeni National Army and Houthi rebels near the strategically vital port of Hudaydah, Al-Arabiya news channel has reported.

“The clashes took place around the University of Hudaydah and in the vicinity of the airport,” military sources revealed. They added that Houthis are sending reinforcements armed with heavy weapons, tanks and artillery.

According to Al-Arabiya, Houthi rebels are attacking the areas of Al-Jah and the coastal strip for the third day in a row. The militias have also shelled Yemeni army positions on the southern and eastern sides of Hudaydah city.
