Qatar’s Ambassador to the Palestinian territories, Mohamad Al-Emadi, said yesterday that his country is ready to host all Palestinian factions to resolve their issue and achieve a united Palestinian vision.

In a press conference held in the besieged Gaza Strip, Al-Emadi said that Hamas had suggested inviting the leaders of all Palestinian factions to discuss the issue of elections and achieve a united Palestinian vision, Quds Press reported.

He also said that he had met with Hussein Al-Sheikh, a senior aide to Palestinian Authority (PA) President Mahmoud Abbas, to discuss several issues related to Gaza and the PA’s relationship with Hamas.

“I met with Hussein Al-Sheikh and discussed several issues, including the Rafah Crossing, the elections and the Russian invitation to Palestinian leaders,” Al-Emadi said. He added: “I asked him to review [PA] measures related to the Rafah Crossing and he promised to take this issue to Abbas”.

Al-Emadi continued: “Al-Sheikh asked me to pass on Abbas’ vision about the elections […] that he does not mind carrying out the elections in all the Palestinian territories, including Jerusalem.”
