Iranian official: Israeli ministers are sources of information for Iran

January 30, 2019 at 1:19 am

Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, Ali Shamkhani said Tuesday that the Israeli cabinet ministers are now providing Iran with intelligence.

Shamkhani is the first Iranian official to refer to the case of a former Israeli minister, Gonen Segev who was sentenced on January, 9 to 11 years in prison for spying to Iran.

“At a time when corruption charges are suffocating the Israeli prime minister, and as the Israeli cabinet minister has become a source of information for Iran and while hundreds of kilometres of tunnels had been dug under Netanyahu’s feet yet he continues to claim that his authority enjoys intelligence superiority” Shamkhani was quoted as saying.

The Israeli justice ministry said earlier this month that Segev and Israeli prosecutors had reached a plea bargain under which he admitted to “serious espionage offences and reporting to the enemy” about Iran.

Segev was extradited from Equatorial Guinea in May 2018 and charged with spying for Iran.
