Russian FM: Discussing launching Syria Constitutional Committee in Iran

The Russian delegation led by Russian President Vladimir Putin’s special envoy to Syria Alexander Lavrentiev and Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Vershinin discussed launching the Syrian Constitutional Committee, the Russian Foreign Ministry said yesterday.

“The functions of the Syrian Constitutional Committee in Geneva, as well as preparations for the next trilateral summit [between Russia, Iran and Turkey] within the Astana formula, had been discussed,” Sputnik news agency quoted the ministry as saying.

According to the statement, the delegation also discussed a range of issues related to the development of the situation in Syria and the Middle East.
