Israeli occupation authorities renewed the administrative detention of Palestinian prisoner Mu’taz Abedo, who is in urgent need of medical care, one day before he was due to be released, Arab48 reported yesterday.

In a statement, the Palestinian Prisoners’ Club (PPC) said: “Abedo has been suffering critical health conditions since he was shot with a live bullet by Israeli occupation force when he was arrested in 2011. The bullet caused severe injuries to his intestines, paralysed his left leg and weakened his right one.”

The 38-year-old was sentenced to three years in jail and was held in Al-Ramleh Prison. He was rearrested in February last year and has been held under administrative detention ever since.

According to the PPC statement, Abdeo has lost the ability to use both legs and his fellow detainees are taking care of him in Al-Naqab Prison.
