Hamas has labelled anyone participating in the US-led Warsaw conference “traitors”, accusing them of stabbing the Palestinian cause in the back.

Senior Hamas leader in the besieged Gaza Strip, Yahya Musa, yesterday accused any official taking part in the conference of being a “traitor,” Al-Wattan Voice reported.

“Everything which comes to us from the US aims to liquidate the Palestinian cause, stirs clashes in the region and serves the Zionist and American agendas,” Musa said, adding:

Anyone attending the Warsaw conference is keeping up with the Zionist and American agendas. Thus, he is stabbing the Palestinian cause in the back. They should be treated by the Palestinians as traitors.

Musa concluded his speech by saying: “The US’ aim is to destroy and segregate the Arab region. It backed the coups against the Arab Spring and it adopts [a] clear agenda of supporting [Israel] and enabling it to dominate and control the whole region.

It is worth noting that Fatah, the Palestinian Authority (PA) and most of the Palestinian factions voiced their rejection of the conference – which is slated to take place in the Polish capital this week – and have refused to take part. Senior Palestinian diplomat Saeb Erekat charged that the conference “aims to supersede the Arab Peace Initiative,” a Saudi-led proposal to end the Israel-Palestine conflict.
