The Chargé d’Affaires of the US Mission in Iraq Joey Hood said yesterday that the US Embassy in Baghdad has brought about 50 investment companies to Iraq.

Speaking at the Fourth International Conference to Fight ISIS Media and Ideology in Baghdad, Hood said: “People need jobs, and we encourage more jobs. The embassy has brought more than 50 investment companies to know about Iraq,” without explaining whether the companies were American or from other countries.

“A secure and stable Iraq is in the interest of the United States,” he said.

Official: US troops will leave Iraq if the Iraqi government asked us to

Hood added that the US, together with the international coalition, has equipped and trained more than 190,000 Iraqi forces.

Earlier on Tuesday, Hood said in a statement that the US forces would leave Iraq if the Iraqi government asked them to.

In 2008, a Strategic Framework Security agreement was signed between Iraq and the US which regulates relations between the two countries in various fields, especially military and economic.
