The Israeli occupation cannot stop Palestinians from protecting Al-Aqsa Mosque no matter what obstacles they put in their way, Hamas said in a statement released today.
Highlighting the steadfastness of the Palestinian people in the face of Israel’s violation of the Muslim holy site this week, Hamas said that “despite all the obstacles posed by the occupation, the threats and arrests”, “the red line” cannot be attacked and Palestinians will come together to “defend” it.
Scores of Palestinians were injured in the occupied West Bank while taking part in protests against Israel’s increased security measures around the Al-Rahma Gate in the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound. At the holy site, Palestinians were able to break the Israeli barriers and enter towards Al-Rahma Gate and pray there.
In the besieged Gaza Strip, one Palestinian was killed and 24 were injured when occupation forces fired live rounds, bullet-coated metal bullets and tear gas at peaceful protesters taking part in the 48th week of the “Great March of Return” protests.
