A European Union court announced on Wednesday its rejection for the appeal submitted by Hamas against the decision to include it on the Union’s list of terrorist groups.

The European Union General Court (EGC) rejected all the seven objections filed by the movement against its inclusion in the terrorist list, while the decision could still be appealed to the European Court of Justice.

The court explained that the decision to include Hamas on the list was partly based on a request of the British Home Secretary and a decision by the US Secretary of State that dates back to October 1997, describing Hamas as a foreign terrorist group.

It is noted that the European Union issued a resolution in 2015 to include Hamas on its list of terrorist organizations, which led to the extension of the freezing of the group’s assets in the countries of the Union.
