Palestinian parliament hails anti-normalisation position of Jordan parliament speaker

First Deputy Speaker of the Palestinian Parliament Ahmad Bahar yesterday hailed the position of Speaker of the Jordanian Parliament Atef Tarawneh who opposed normalising ties with Israel, Safa news agency reported.

Bahar also congratulated him on his new position as head of the Union of Arab Parliaments, pointing to the importance of the joint work of Arab parliaments.

In his message, Bahar highlighted the importance of the Palestinian cause, stressing that it has been and should remain the central cause of the Arab nations.

“We have full confidence that you will be able to carry out all the missions in light of the ongoing challenges facing the Arab nation,” Bahar said.

He also thanked the Union of Arab Parliaments who rejected all forms of normalisation of ties with the Israeli occupation during the last meeting held in Amman.

Concluding his message, Bahar said: “In the name of the Palestinian people, we are honoured to invite you to visit the parliament in Gaza to be informed about all forms of suffering inflicted on the Palestinians in the besieged Gaza Strip.”
