Sheikh Raed Salah challenges Israel’s indictments

The Palestinian resistant icon, Sheikh Raed Salah, yesterday opposed the recent indictments directed to him by the Israeli prosecution.

“The Israeli occupation is the one responsible for all accusations,” Salah was quoted by local media as saying during his hearing held at a Magistrate court in the occupied city of Haifa. The court session was reported to have been attended by dozens of Palestinian activists, in solidarity to the prominent Islamist.

Salah also condemned the recent Israeli escalation at Al-Aqsa Mosque’s Al-Rahma Gate in the occupied Jerusalem. He described the gate as an “integral part of the holy mosque.”

After the hearing, Salah’s lawyer, Omar Khamaisi, that the accusations received by his client were “intended against the Islamic principles.”

Sheikh Salah was arrested from his home in the northern city of Umm Al-Fahm on 25 August 2017 and was indicted nine days later by the Israeli Public Prosecution. He was charged with 12 counts of incitement to violence and terrorism, as well as supporting a banned organisation in reference to the Islamic Movement.
