According to the Russian minister, cooperation between the two countries has been growing in line with the strategic partnership agreement signed by their presidents in 2001.

“We have discussed our international position based on the principle that all countries must abide by the United Nations principles and Charter, most importantly, not to interfere in the internal affairs of other countries and to resolve all disputes through political and diplomatic means,” Lavrov said, adding that the two have also discussed the current situation in the Middle East and North Africa and the Sahel region and Russia’s joint efforts with Turkey and Iran in Syria.

He also stressed on the need to overcome old crises like the Arab-Israeli conflict and abide by UN Security Council resolutions.
