An Israeli Jewish settler yesterday opened fire at two Palestinians near Huwwara checkpoint south of the occupied West Bank city of Nablus, killing one and wounding another, Quds Press reported.

The Palestinian Ministry of Health identified the martyr as Mohammad Abdul-Fattah, stating that he was left bleeding for about half an hour in front of the Israeli soldiers and was announced dead after being taken to an Israeli hospital.

According to the ministry, the wounded Palestinian was identified as Khalid Rawajbeh, 26, from Nablus.

Israeli media claimed that they were shot by the settler after attempting to carry out a stabbing attack, but eyewitnesses stressed that Abdul-Fattah was truck drive with an Israeli plate who had come out of his vehicle to ask the settler to open the road as he had blocked it with his car, but the settler immediately opened fire at him, killing him and wounding Rawajbeh, who was working at a nearby mechanic garage.

After the incident, the Israeli occupation forces closed the checkpoint in both directions.
