Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Vershinin yesterday said his country is doing its utmost efforts to complete the formation of the Syrian Constitutional Committee in preparation for the next meeting in Kazakhstan.

“We are doing this in coordination with the United Nations and the guarantors of the Astana format [Russia, Turkey and Iran],” he said, adding that a number of countries have expressed interest in joining the Astana format.

The Russian official said there is a plan to hold a new meeting for the guarantors of the Astana format, stressing that there are no specific dates yet for the meeting.
