Palestinian Authority (PA) Ministry of Tourism Rola Ma’ay’a said that her ministry had succeeded to attract a large number of tourists from worldwide during the first quarter of 2019, Maan reported yesterday.

The number of tourists who visited Palestine reached 816,457 compared to the 621,331 in the same period of 2018 – an increase of 31.4 per cent.

This meant there were 433,187 nights spent in hotels, compared to 330,370 during the same period last year, a 31.1 per cent increase.

Visitors mainly come from the US, followed by Russians, Poles and Romanians. Polish citizens were most likely to stay in hotels in the occupied territories, followed by Romanians, Russians and Americans.

“We seek to make the trips of the tourists rich of experience in order to reflect a beautiful image when they are back home about Palestine and its people,” tourism ministry said.
